Today was sunny....

9.3.14

Sorry to state the obvious BUT HOW AMAZING HAS THE WEATHER BEEN? I've ditched my fleeced lined parka and happily pulled out my pleather jacket and found my sunglasses. I still wore tights though. It is still March after all and early March at that. Lets not get too ahead of ourselves…

Though of course, some people do. Glorious weather brings out the crazies and the over excited….

I've witnessed:

More men in vests than I ever thought possible in March

Several people wearing shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops and sunglasses like they were heading for the beach

Two women fighting over the last disposable BBQ in the local shop

About a million pictures of the sunny weather with exclamations of THE SUN'S OUT via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, any other social media - like we don't all have a window to see for ourselves that it's sunny outside (though I am guilty of such pictures myself… See above)

And on Brick Lane my flatmate saw girls wearing very little, vomitting in the street in a scene like (I quote) 'they'd just come out of a foam party in Malia.'

So yes, the sun is out. And we're all excited - though some more than others.

Us Brits, eh, we don't do things by halves do we?

Summer holidays

16.7.13

You will have noticed I have been MIA for the past week (if you haven't noticed, humour me OK?)

I spent the past week in sunny Portugal and while I am well aware it was just as hot, if not hotter, in the UK, you can't just roll out of bed and into a pool here can you?

And this trip had all the ingredients of a fantastic holiday….

Fabulous people

Champagne sangria

Lots of laughs

Gin based cocktails (Joely specials!)

Smurfs....

Did I mention booze was an essential ingredient?

Oh and no holiday would be complete without a Dean the Dinosaur…

Can I go back please?

Here comes the sun...

21.4.13

The sun is out. Spring looks like it finally might have sprung, the long dark winter that we suffered is finally over…

And I should be happy. However I'm not. I'm panicking. A lot.

Yes, yes. I know I moaned about the lack of sunshine in this recent post but now it actually is warm I'm really not ready.

Firstly, my skin is so pale I'm practically transparent. My legs especially are so white they may actually hurt your eyes if I go without the tights I've been wearing since October 1st.

And when my housemate Rachael mentioned she was wearing her flip-flops the other day, fear ran through me. My feet are so not ready to be exposed to the outside world. It will take a chainsaw to hack at my toe-nails and a bucket full of moisturiser before I am sandal ready. Not to mention the fact that it looks like I haven't shaved my legs since last summer…

I also tried on my favourite summer dress yesterday and it clung so tightly across my stomach that I looked at least four months pregnant. With twins. My love of pizzas and burgers is fine during the winter where  I can wear thick tights and baggy jumpers. But I'm sure now paying the price…

So while the sun is most welcome as it has been so long, it has also thrown me into a panic and made me book every pedicure/waxing/fake tan appointment going at the local beauty salon as well as jumping back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon for the millionth time.

Anyone else with me in this summer preparation meltdown?
